Kindergarten and schools

The Eastern Ore Mountains Museum at Lauenstein Castle invites children and young people to experience history and art up close. Our offers are aimed at kindergartens, schools, children's and youth groups. Everyone is welcome!

The individual modules can also be combined. We would be happy to put together your individual museum program together with you.

“Robber Baron Gecko” and other legends

We look for legendary places in the castle, look at pictures, read and tell some exciting stories.

In the second part of the campaign it becomes very practical: the children illustrate a small leporello of a legend of the Eastern Ore Mountains that they have chosen themselves. Wonderful little works of art are always created, especially with linocuts.

Take time

An old tower clock ticks high up in the castle's Seiger Tower, telling visitors the time. The time has been read on the dial for over 300 years.

But how did people back then know what time it was when they were out and about and there was no tower clock nearby? There were no pocket watches or wristwatches yet. Back then the sun helped people. We want to explore how together. Each participant can build their own sundial.

Travel back in time to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance

How did the von Bünau family live in Lauenstein Castle back then? What was on the table? How do you hit the bullseye with a bow and arrow? Which clothes were fashionable?

After an eventful day in the castle, the children can answer these questions. A delicious meal is prepared, you practice with your bow and arrow, dance in the bird room and look for the traces of the former lords of the castle.
